You must provide a full employment history covering at least the past 5 years. This includes detailing every job you have held chronologically, starting with the most recent. Crucially, you must also include explanations for any periods of unemployment, travel, or time spent caring for family. If you leave gaps or do not cover the full 5-year period, your application may be discounted.
Yes. Because this role involves access to children and/or vulnerable adults, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This means you are required to declare all pending prosecutions, convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings, even if they would usually be considered “spent”. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify you, but failure to declare it may result in your dismissal or the withdrawal of a job offer.
You must provide contact details for two referees. Ideally, these must be your two most recent employers. You are not permitted to use family members or anyone related to you as a reference. If you do not have two previous employers (for example, if you are a student or school leaver), please provide an alternative professional or educational reference contact.
